Winter 2011 ~ News from HASA ~ We Are A Community

We’d like to take this opportunity to wish all our St. Clare families a new year filled with many blessings. Would you believe that we are already in 2012?

Christmas is the season to be thankful. HASA wants to acknowledge those of you who support us in many ways. Thanks for being class parents; thanks for cooking and baking for us; thanks for your financial support; thanks for attending our events; and thanks for volunteering beyond your contractual obligations.

A few parents have shared with us that one of the things that makes St. Clare School different and special is that new families feel welcome right away. We embrace them, share information with them, and invite them to be actively involved –the best and fastest way to become part of a community. It is a pleasure to see that quite a few of the new families are already fully immersed Saint Clare families.

It is (finally) getting cold outside, but we have many events to warm us up. Please mark your calendars and support OUR school:

  • Save the Date: January 28 is International Dinner and Dance -- food from many countries, music and dancing. As new families found out during the Halloween Social, we know how to party at St. Clare’s! Expect another evening of fun, live DJ music, and tons of food. Tell your family and friends to join you. We will take full-table reservations.

  • Do you have a sweet tooth? Valentine’s Chocolate Roses are around the corner. They make the perfect gift on February 14. Please consider purchasing extra roses to sell at your workplace. They fly “off the shelves”!

  • The Easter Candy Sale begins on February 21. These delicious chocolates from Gertrude Hawk make wonderful gifts.

The Tricky Tray event at The Brownstone on May 8 is still many months away, but now is the time to start planning. This is a great time to take advantage of all the sales, “by-one-get-one-free”, or half off offers.  Please make a beautiful basket and bring it on January 13 (last names A-L) or January 20 (last names M-Z). Baskets should be worth a minimum of $40, and all items must be brand new. Gift cards to area restaurants and businesses as well as scratch off tickets are very popular. Other popular items include kitchen gadgets, small appliances and electronics.  Use your imagination and take pride in your work while making the basket. Get your children involved in the process! Please note, you may submit $60 cash in lieu of making a basket yourself.

This year, there will be three (3) prizes for the best three baskets. All families, regardless of tuition plan, should consider participating.

On behalf of the little angels at St. Clare’s, thanks for all that you do.
