Important
announcement about a change in state
law regarding student medical examinations.
SCHOOL NURSE-
The school nurse provides the following
services: height and weight measurements, hearing screening, vision
screening, scoliosis screening, and Mantoux Test for tuberculosis.
The nurse is at
the school to provide emergency care for children who are injured or become
ill while in school. She keeps up-to-date records on all students. She
notifies parents/guardians of health problems or related illnesses and
provides referrals to family physicians.
If a child is
ill in the morning, they should not be sent to school. If a child had a
fever, they must be free of fever for 24 hours before returning to school.
MEDICATION -
According to New Jersey State
Law, the School Nurse, or any other school personnel, may administer
medication to students only if the following conditions are met:

A note form
the doctor containing the child's name, name of the medication, dosage,
time, schedule and diagnosis for which the medicine has been prescribed.

The
medication must be in the original container from the pharmacy with
proper labeling.

A note form
the parent stating what time the medicine is to be given.

All of the
above must be brought to the school office at the beginning of the day
by the parent.
The above
regulations apply also to ASPIRIN AND ALL NON-PRESCRIPTION MEDICATION. NO
EXCEPTIONS WILL OR CAN BE MADE!
